Christmas Popovers

Christmas Popovers! Just saying the name out loud is as fun as they are to eat! The exterior is crisp and golden brown, while the inside is fluffy and just calling out for a pat of melty butter! Each of the Christmas Popovers is baked in melted butter for the perfect flavor, and each has melty cheese infused straight into it. These are going to make everyone jump for joy throughout the holidays!

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs, plus 2 egg whites
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup extra-sharp aged white cheddar, finely grated
  • 2 tablespoons butter, at room temperature, for coating the pans, plus more for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, the egg whites, the milk, the flour, and the salt.

Step 3 –Stir the cheddar into the egg mixture.

Step 4 –Place two 6-cup popover pans in the oven for 10 minutes.

Step 5 –Transfer the pans from the oven and, working quickly, brush the cups with the butter and evenly divide the batter between the cups.

Step 6 –Return the pans to the oven and bake until the popovers are puffed over the pan rims and deep golden in color, about 25-30 minutes.

Step 7 –Cut a small slit in the top of each popover to release the steam and bake until cooked through, about 10 minutes.

Step 8 –Serve immediately with the butter.
