Ingredients

For the donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin purée
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs

For the topping:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, the pumpkin pie spice, the baking powder, and the salt together.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, beat the pumpkin purée, 1 1/2 cups of the sugar, the vegetable oil, 4 tablespoons of the butter, the vanilla, and the eggs together until smooth.

Step 4 –Add the flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture and beat until just combined.

Step 5 –Fill three 6-cup nonstick donut pans with the batter so that each mold is almost full. Smooth the tops out using a moistened finger.

Step 6 –Bake the donuts until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 15 minutes.

Step 7 –Invert the donuts onto a cooling rack.

Step 8 –Stir the remaining sugar and the cinnamon together in a shallow bowl.

Step 9 –Working 1 at a time, brush the donuts all over with the remaining melted butter, then dip them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.

Step 10 –Serve warm or at room temperature.
