Easy Tiramisu Mousse

If tiramisu is already the definitive dessert pick-me-up, then Easy Tiramisu Mousse is somehow the even cheerier and easier version of it! The strength of the coffee, the tanginess and creaminess of the mascarpone, and the rich dusting of the cocoa powder are now all combined in a smooth, luscious mousse that is as light as air but so, so, so flavorful and sweet. These are charming little dessert cups you can serve to bring an Italian-style meal to a close or just a nice treat for when the mood strikes. Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese or cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ounce semi-sweet baking chocolate

Directions

Step 1 –In a bowl, place the instant coffee in the hot water and stir.

Step 2 –Let the coffee mixture cool.

Step 3 –In another bowl, beat the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.

Step 4 –Chill the whipped cream in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Step 5 –In a large bowl, mix the powdered sugar and the mascarpone cheese with a hand mixer until smooth.

Step 6 –Mix the vanilla extract and at least 1 tablespoon of the coffee into the mascarpone mixture. If a stronger coffee flavor is preferred, add more of the coffee.

Step 7 –Gently fold the whipped cream into coffee mixture.

Step 8 –Place the tiramisu mixture in a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag fitted with a large round tip.

Step 9 –Pipe a small amount of the tiramisu mousse in the bottom of each of the 4 serving glasses.

Step 10 –Top the layer with a dusting of the cocoa powder.

Step 11 –Continue layering the tiramisu and the cocoa powder until you reach the top of the serving glasses.

Step 12 –Grate the baking chocolate over the tops of the serving dishes.

Step 13 –Cover and chill until ready to serve.
