Life-on-the-Farm Breakfast Bake

You don’t have to live out in the country to enjoy a full-on, table-packed breakfast. Life-on-the-Farm Breakfast Bake will satisfy all of your breakfast requests, no matter where you live! Stuffed with fluffy eggs, seasoned sausage, melted cheddar cheese, and gravy bread, this dish makes a hearty, delicious breakfast that has a little of everything for everyone. When the morning calls for some stick-to-your-ribs kind of food, this Life-on-the-Farm Breakfast Bake will have all the roosters crowing, and you won’t be mad about it. Whether in town or in the country, one thing is for sure, breakfast time can’t come soon enough!

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package breakfast sausage
  • 1 green onion, chopped, plus more, to taste, sliced, for garnish
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 (2.64-ounce) package country gravy mix
  • 6 slices bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons butter, optional, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease an 8×11-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the sausage and cook, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Step 4 –Add 1 of the chopped green onions to the sausage and stir to combine.

Step 5 –Evenly spread the sausage mixture over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 6 –Sprinkle the cheese over the top of the sausage mixture.

Step 7 –In a medium bowl, add the eggs, the water, the milk, and the gravy mix and whisk together until well-combined.

Step 8 –Sprinkle the egg mixture over the top of the cheese layer.

Step 9 –Evenly sprinkle the bread cubes over the top of the egg mixture.

Step 10 –Drizzle the melted butter over the bread cubes, then evenly sprinkle with the paprika.

Step 11 –Bake the casserole until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes.

Step 12 –Transfer to a wire rack and let it rest, about 10 minutes.

Step 13 –Serve the bake garnished with the extra sliced green onions.
