Mamie Eisenhower’s Fudge

Ingredients

  • 3 (4-ounce) bars semi-sweet chocolate, cut into small pieces
  • 3 (4-ounce) bars German’s sweet chocolate, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups marshmallow creme
  • 2 cups pecans
  • 4 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk

Directions

Step 1 –Line an 8-inch square baking dish and a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.

Step 2 –In a large bowl of an electric mixer with the paddle attachment, add the semi-sweet chocolate bits, the German sweet chocolate bits, the marshmallow cream, and the pecans and beat to combine.

Step 3 –In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar, the salt, the butter, and the evaporated milk and bring it to a boil, stirring constantly, until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved, about 6 minutes.

Step 4 –Add the milk mixture to the chocolate mixture and beat until the chocolate has melted.

Step 5 –Immediately pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dishes.

Step 6 –Let the fudge cool on a wire rack for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.

Step 7 –Slice and serve.
