Slow Cooker Sesame Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken breast halves, skinless, boneless
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • rice, optional, cooked, for serving
  • sesame seeds, for topping

Directions

Step 1 –Place the chicken breast halves in the slow cooker.

Step 2 –In a mixing bowl, stir the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced onion, garlic powder, and vegetable oil.

Step 3 –Pour the mixture on top of the chicken in the slow cooker.

Step 4 –Preheat the temperature of the slow cooker to low heat and cook the chicken until it is tender, about 3-4 hours.

Step 5 –Using a spoon, transfer the chicken breasts from the slow cooker onto a cutting board.

Step 6 –Mix the cornstarch and water together, ensuring that the cornstarch dissolves completely and forms a slurry.

Step 7 –Pour the cornstarch-water slurry into the slow cooker, mixing it in with the sauce until it is all smooth.

Step 8 –Cook the sauce on high heat until it is slightly thickened, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 9 –Cut the chicken into smaller, bite-sized pieces and stir it back into the sauce.
