World’s Best Apple Crisp

If we could combine everything that we love about fall in one day, it would consist of sitting by a warm fire as we breathe in the crisp air, overlooking a picture-perfect landscape of reds, yellows, and oranges, and casually sipping on our favorite autumn drink… oh, and nibbling on the World’s Best Apple Crisp. As part of our ideal day, we would go to a cute, little farm, pick the shiniest apples, and come home to make this gooey, cinnamon-y, and crumbly concoction that tastes just divine with a scoop of ice cream. Gosh, what a day that would be. Get a little taste of it by making the World’s Best Apple Crisp! It’ll have you feeling very “grate-fall!”

Ingredients

  • 10 cups apples, peeled and cored, sliced
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • vanilla ice cream, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Place the apples in an ungreased 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a small bowl, add the white sugar, 1 tablespoon of the flour, and the cinnamon and mix to combine.

Step 4 –Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the apples.

Step 5 –Pour the water over the apple mixture.

Step 6 –In a large bowl, add the oats, the remaining flour, the brown sugar, the baking powder, and the baking soda and mix to combine.

Step 7 –Add the melted butter to the oat mixture and mix with a fork until it is crumbly.

Step 8 –Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apple mixture.

Step 9 –Bake the apple crisp until the top is golden-brown and the apples are bubbling around the edges, about 45 minutes.

Step 10 –Serve the apple crisp with the vanilla ice cream.
