Ingredients

  • 8 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
  • salt, to taste
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper.

Step 3 –Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, skin-side down, and sear until brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 4 –Transfer the chicken to a plate and set it aside.

Step 5 –Melt the remaining butter in the skillet.

Step 6 –Add the garlic, cooking and stirring until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 7 –Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the brown sugar, honey, oregano, thyme, and basil until well combined.

Step 8 –Return the chicken to the skillet.

Step 9 –Bake in the preheated oven until the chicken is no longer pink at the bone and the juices are clear, about 25-30 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F.
