Bacon Lasagna

Sure, normal, cheesy, warm lasagna is great. But what if it could be even better? Think Bacon Lasagna. Yes, we said BACON Lasagna. Can you even imagine it?! Layers upon layers of tender noodles, topped with tangy tomato sauce, hearty ground beef, melty cheese, AND crispy, salty, yummy, amazing bacon!! What a savory treat it must be. The good news is you don’t have to use your imagination to think about what it tastes like… you can make Bacon Lasagna for yourself, right here, right now! Get ready to blow your tastebuds’ minds because this is unlike anything they’ve ever tasted, for real!

Ingredients

  • 24 lasagna noodles, uncooked
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 pounds bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 cups Colby-Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease two 13×9-inch baking dishes.

Step 3 –Cook the noodles to al dente according to the package directions. Drain.

Step 4 –While the noodles cook, in a 6-quart stockpot over medium-high heat, cook the beef and the onion, while breaking the meat into crumbles, until the beef is no longer pink, about 10-12 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Step 5 –Stir the bacon, the tomato sauce, the tomatoes, the sugar, and the salt into the meat mixture and cook until it is heated through.

Step 6 –Spread 1 cup of the sauce into each of the prepared baking dishes.

Step 7 –Layer each of the dishes with 4 of the noodles, overlapping as needed, 1 2/3 cups of the sauce, and 1 1/3 cups cheese.

Step 8 –Repeat the layers twice starting with the noodles and ending with the cheese.

Step 9 –Bake the lasagna, covered, for 40 minutes.

Step 10 –Uncover and then bake until the lasagna is bubbly, about 5-10 minutes.

Step 11 –Let the lasagna stand for 15 minutes.

Step 12 –Serve.
