  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 bananas, halved lengthwise
  • 3 ounces dark rum
  • vanilla ice cream, optional, to taste


Step 1 –In a large sauce pan over medium heat, add the butter, the brown sugar, the white sugar, and the cinnamon and cook, stirring occasionally, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 2 –Add the bananas to the butter mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 3 –Add the rum to the banana mixture.

Step 4 –Carefully use a long lighter to ignite the rum and allow the flames to burn out, about 30 seconds.

Step 5 –Serve the bananas Foster with the vanilla ice cream.
