Boston’s Roast Beef

Boston isn’t known just for its baked beans and clam chowder (or “chowda” as they might call it). They also have a tradition of the best roast beef sandwiches anywhere in the U.S.! Boston’s Roast Beef piles the beef high on pillory buns and tops it with melty American cheese and a tangy sauce that only elevates the beefiness in each bite. Toasted to a heart-melting warmth, Boston’s Roast Beef is sure to warm you up on a cold night or make lunchtime luxurious! You can make enough sandwiches for everyone too, so everyone can share in the Bay State beef experience!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup spicy mustard
  • 3-4 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 3 tablespoons onion, grated
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish mayonnaise
  • Worcestershire sauce, to taste
  • 12 soft hamburger buns, sliced in half
  • 8 ounces provolone, sliced
  • 1 pound roast beef, thinly shaved
  • 8 ounces American cheese, sliced

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Mix together the mayo, the mustard, the poppy seeds, the onion, the horseradish mayo, and the Worcestershire sauce.

Step 3 –Taste the dressing and modify as desired.

Step 4 –Spread the dressing on the top and bottom buns.

Step 5 –On the bottom buns, lay on the provolone, the roast beef, and the American cheese in even amounts.

Step 6 –Close the buns with the top buns.

Step 7 –Wrap each sandwich with foil.

Step 8 –Place the sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake in the oven until the buns are slightly crusted and the cheese is melted, about 15-20 minutes.

Step 9 –Serve hot.
