Take a bite of these Change-Up Cheeseburgers. Do you notice anything different? Your tastebuds might be pleasantly stunned by the juicy, tender, perfectly grilled patty. But what’s that?! It’s a chicken burger?! You might not have known there was something different going on… you would have been too lost in the way the melty cheese melds so delightfully with all the savory flavors. Served between soft, fluffy buns, these Change-Up Cheeseburgers really pull a fast one on ya… in the most delicious way!
Ingredients
For the chicken burgers:
- 2 pounds ground chicken
- 3 tablespoons full-fat sour cream
- 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup chives, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce, optional
- 6 slices white American cheese, optional
- 6 hamburger buns, toasted
Optional toppings:
- buffalo sauce, to taste
- blue cheese crumbles, to taste
- lettuce slices, to taste
- red onion, sliced, to taste
- mayonnaise, to taste
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Step 2 –In a large bowl, combine the chicken, the sour cream, the breadcrumbs, the chives, the garlic, the salt, the pepper, the mustard, and the hot sauce and mix gently to combine.
Step 3 –Divide the chicken mixture into 6 even portions.
Step 4 –Form the portions into balls, then press them into 3/4-inch-thick patties.
Step 5 –Transfer the patties on waxed paper to the grill and oil the grill grates.
Step 6 –Place the chicken patties on the grill and cook, with the grill covered, until the internal temperature of the chicken patties reaches at least 165 degrees F, about 4-5 minutes per side.
Step 7 –Place the cheese slices on the patties and cook until the cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 8 –Place the patties on the hamburger bun bottoms and top with the buffalo sauce, the blue cheese crumbles, the lettuce slices, the red onion, the mayonnaise, and the bun tops.
Step 9 –Serve.
