Cheesy Apple Casserole

Cheesy Apple Casserole layers the tender, jammy apples with a distinct sweet and savory cheddar cheese spread that creates wonderful contrasting flavors. Ingredients

  • 5 cups apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Spray a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.

Step 3 –Toss the apples with the lemon juice.

Step 4 –Spread the apples in the bottom of the dish.

Step 5 –Mix the melted butter, the sugar, the salt, the flour, the milk, the vanilla, and 1 cup of the cheese together with a spoon.

Step 6 –Pour and spread the cheese mixture over the apples.

Step 7 –Bake the casserole until the apples are tender and cooked through, about 55-60 minutes. Add the remaining cheese on top of the casserole during the last 15 minutes of baking.

Step 8 –Serve hot.
