Divine Dinner Skillet

A heavenly and hearty meal that should arrive on your table like a sunbeam! The sauce of the Divine Dinner Skillet is enough for it to earn its wings; creamy, fragrant, and wonderfully savory! The succulent shredded chicken, bright peppers, and crisp bacon bits all add to the harp melody of flavor. And it’s all served on buttery egg noodles? Well, that settles it; Divine Dinner Skillet is an angelic meal that’s ready in just half an hour! Hallelujah!

Ingredients

  • 6 thick-cut bacon slices, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) package frozen broccoli florets, thawed
  • 2 cups parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 (12-ounce) package wide egg noodles, cooked
  • 3 cups chicken, cooked and shredded
  • 1/2 cup Peppadew® or sweet cherry peppers, chopped
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Directions

Step 1 –Position an oven rack 6 inches from the heat source.

Step 2 –Preheat the oven to broil.

Step 3 –On the stovetop over medium-heat, heat a 12-inch ovenproof skillet.

Step 4 –Add the bacon to the hot skillet and cook, while stirring often, until crisp, about 10 minutes.

Step 5 –Using a slotted spoon, transfer the bacon to a paper-towel-line plate to drain.

Step 6 –Reserve 2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings in the skillet, draining the remainder.

Step 7 –Add the butter and the garlic to the hot bacon drippings in the skillet and cook, while stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 8 –Add the flour to the garlic and cook, while whisking constantly, until golden, about 2 minutes.

Step 9 –While whisking, slowly add the chicken broth, the heavy cream, the salt, and the pepper to the garlic mixture until smooth.

Step 10 –Bring the cream mixture to a simmer over medium-high, while whisking occasionally.

Step 11 –Add the broccoli and stir to combine.

Step 12 –Cook the sauce mixture, while stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 7 minutes.

Step 13 –Transfer the skillet from the heat.

Step 14 –Add the parmesan and the Monterey Jack cheese to the sauce mixture and stir until smooth.

Step 15 –Add the cooked pasta, the cooked chicken, the peppers, and 1/2 of the reserved bacon and stir to combine.

Step 16 –Sprinkle the bake with the breadcrumbs.

Step 17 –Broil the mixture until lightly toasted, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 18 –Sprinkle the skillet with the remaining bacon and serve.
