Dolly’s Cinnamon Bread

Dolly Parton doesn’t just know her music; she’s also a culinary icon with her favorites becoming household classics throughout the U.S. One such favorite, a prominent staple of Dollywood, is Dolly’s Cinnamon Bread. And how could it not be a favorite? Tender bread topped with cinnamon sugar, and baked so that the sugar caramelizes and the cinnamon is warm and fragrant… it sounds like a dream even as we’re writing about it. And we haven’t even gotten into the bright icing drizzled on top! Dolly’s Cinnamon Bread is amazing as a dessert, an appetizer, a snack, or a just plain anytime treat!

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line two 8x4x2-inch loaf pans with parchment paper or spray with baking spray.

Step 3 –Once the dough is thawed and doubled in size, using a very sharp knife, cut four deep crosswise slits across the top of the loaves, approximately 1-inch apart. Be careful not to cut all the way through the loaves.

Step 4 –Place the melted butter in a shallow bowl.

Step 5 –Mix the cinnamon and the sugar together in a separate shallow bowl.

Step 6 –Dredge each of the bread loaves, one at a time, in the melted butter and then in the cinnamon sugar mixture, making sure to coat both sides.

Step 7 –Transfer the coated loaves to the prepared pans.

Step 10 –Transfer the loaves from the pans and place them on cake plates.

Step 11 –Pull the parchment away from the loaves and allow them to cool for 20 minutes.

Step 12 –Whisk together the powdered sugar and the fresh lemon juice until smooth.

Step 14 –Slice and serve.
