Grandma’s Famous Apple Crisp

With age comes wisdom and many years of experience to get things right! Grandma’s Famous Apple Crisp has been created so many times that it has reached apple perfection! Loaded with an apple pie filling, then topped with a soft crisp-like covering, this pie replacement is seasoned with all of the apple spice requirements and baked until golden-brown. Easy, delicious, and always requested, Grandma’s Famous Apple Crisp is an apple pie-like experience you will grow a fondness for… again and again. How about them apples?!

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 2 (21-ounce) cans apple pie filling
  • 2 tablespoons butter

For the crisp topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • vanilla ice cream, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 11×7-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –Place the pie filling into the prepared baking dish.

Step 4 –Dot the pie filling with 2 tablespoons of the butter.

Step 5 –In a large bowl, add the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, and the nutmeg and mix to combine.

Step 6 –Cut the remaining cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 7 –Add the egg to the flour mixture and mix just until moistened.

Step 8 –Sprinkle the crisp topping over the pie filling.

Step 9 –Bake the apple crisp, uncovered, until the topping is golden-brown and the filling is bubbly, about 40-45 minutes.

Step 10 –Serve the apple crisp warm with the ice cream.
