Grilled BBQ Chicken

Juicy chicken bursting with flavor hot off the grill will make summer complete. Grilled BBQ Chicken is all that and more! Grilled to juicy, fatty delectability and slathered in thick caramelized barbeque sauce, Grilled BBQ Chicken is a sticky, smoky, sweet delight. Serve with a side of mac and cheese, green beans, or potato salad for the ultimate barbeque experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4-1/3 cup barbeque sauce

Directions

Step 1 –Place the chicken thighs on a cutting board and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 2 –In a small mixing bowl, combine the garlic powder, chipotle powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper to create a rub.

Step 3 –Massage the rub into the chicken thighs.

Step 4 –Allow the chicken to rest for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors of the rub.

Step 5 –Preheat the grill for direct medium-high heat.

Step 6 –Once preheated, place the chicken skin-side-down on the grill over direct heat for 4-5 minutes to crisp the skin.

Step 7 –Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

Step 8 –Flip the chicken once more and move it to indirect heat.

Step 9 –Brush the chicken with the barbeque sauce, spreading it evenly over the chicken thighs.

Step 10 –Cover the grill and allow the sauce to thicken for 2-3 minutes.

Step 11 –Check the chicken to ensure it has cooked to 165 degrees F internally.

Step 12 –Remove the chicken thighs and allow to them rest for about 5 minutes before coating them with more barbeque sauce as desired.

Step 13 –Serve warm.
