Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Dutch process cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 3 large brown bananas
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and set it aside.
Step 3 –In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, the cocoa powder, the baking soda, and the sea salt together.
Step 4 –In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork.
Step 5 –Add the melted butter and the oil to the mashed bananas and stir until combined.
Step 6 –Stir the brown sugar, the egg, and the vanilla extract into the banana mixture and stir until smooth.
Step 7 –Stir the flour mixture into the banana mixture, being careful not to overmix.
Step 8 –Stir 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips into the banana mixture.
Step 9 –Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Step 10 –Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top of the bread.
Step 11 –Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out mostly clean, about 50 minutes-1 hour 5 minutes.
Step 12 –Remove the pan from the oven and set it on a wire cooling rack.
Step 13 –Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
Step 14 –Run a knife around the edges of the bread and carefully transfer it from the pan.
Step 15 –Let the bread cool on a wire cooling rack until slightly warm.
Step 16 –Slice and serve.
