Imposter Pasta

“Wow!” your dinner guests will say. “You swear you didn’t get this from a restaurant?” And the truth is… you didn’t! Imposter Pasta just tastes like Olive Garden® chicken pasta; it just doesn’t require you to leave the house or work all that hard! The slow cooker ensures the herbaceous, creamy sauce and the super tender chicken are ready when you are. All you have to do is make sure the pasta is ready to scoop all the hot goodness up! Imposter Pasta doesn’t require treatment for imposter syndrome, that is for sure; it can stand up on its own merits!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 16 ounces Italian dressing, store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup parmesan, grated
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 (16-ounce) box penne pasta

Directions

Step 1 –In a slow cooker, layer the chicken breasts, the Italian dressing, the parmesan, and the cream cheese, in that order.

Step 2 –Cover and cook until the chicken breasts reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, about 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low.

Step 3 –Just before the chicken is ready, in a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the pasta to al dente, according to the package directions.

Step 4 –Drain the pasta.

Step 5 –Using two forks, shred the chicken, taking care not to shred it too finely.

Step 6 –Add the pasta to the chicken mixture in the slow cooker and stir gently to combine.

Step 7 –Serve the pasta warm.
