Coffee-Crusted Beef Tenderloin uses espresso beans as part of an aromatic and smoky-sweet rub that enhances the beefy flavor of the tenderloin. Once seared and roasted to perfection, the tenderloin has a jacket that you’ll be dreaming of from now on! Coffee-Crusted Beef Tenderloin is relatively easy to make and results in an unbelievable main course. It’ll wake up your taste buds in an instant!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup espresso beans, finely ground
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ground cayenne pepper, to taste
- salt, to taste
- ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 (6-ounce) beef tenderloin steaks
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
Directions
Step 1 –Sift the ground espresso beans, the brown sugar, the cinnamon, the cayenne pepper, the salt, and the pepper together in a bowl.
Step 2 –Generously coat all sides of both of the tenderloins with the espresso mixture.
Step 3 –Place the tenderloins on a plate and refrigerate until the flavors blend together, for about 30 minutes.
Step 4 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 5 –Heat a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 6 –Add the canola oil.
Step 7 –Once the oil is shimmering, add the tenderloins and cook until the bottom of each steak is browned, about 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
Step 8 –Flip the tenderloins.
Step 9 –Place the skillet in the oven.
Step 10 –Roast the tenderloins until they reach the desired doneness, 130-135 degrees F for medium-rare, about 4-5 minutes.
Step 11 –Transfer the skillet from the oven and tent with aluminum foil and let the tenderloins rest for 5 minutes.
Step 12 –Serve.
