Mama’s Bacon Bread

She knows how much you’re going to love it. You won’t be able to wait to get your hands on Mama’s Bacon Bread! When savory bacon and some bread dough come together with a little mozzarella cheese and a tangy, ranch-y seasoning, well, all we have to say is she’s a baking genius! Mama’s Bacon Bread is always golden and always a winner at our family gatherings. Enjoy a slice of this yumminess for yourself!

Ingredients

  • 12 strips bacon
  • 1 (1-pound) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 (1-ounce) package ranch salad dip and dressing mix

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line an 18×26-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3 –In a large skillet over medium heat, add the bacon strips and cook until they are partially cooked, about 5 minutes.

Step 4 –Place the bacon strips on a paper-towel-lined plate to rest until they are cool enough to touch.

Step 5 –Transfer the bacon strips to a cutting board and dice.

Step 6 –Roll the bread dough out to 1/2-inch thickness.

Step 7 –Use a pastry brush to coat the dough with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil.

Step 8 –Cut the coated dough into 1-inch-wide pieces and place in a large bowl.

Step 9 –Add the diced bacon, the mozzarella cheese, the ranch mix, and the remaining olive oil to the dough pieces and toss to coat.

Step 10 –Arrange the coated dough pieces on the prepared baking sheet in a 9×5-inch oval shape, in layers, as needed.

Step 11 –Cover the baking sheet and let the bread rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 30 minutes.

Step 12 –Bake the bread, about 40 minutes.

Step 13 –Cover the bread with aluminum foil and bake until it is golden-brown, about 15 minutes.

Step 14 –Serve.
