Pigs-in-a-Blanket Sandwich

The savory, spiced sausages rolled in crispy, succulent bacon and topped with bright, sweet, and tart cranberry sauce and thick gravy, all atop a roll is a literal recipe for success; your tastebuds will certainly feel successful as they enjoy each bite of Pigs-in-a-Blanket Sandwich. Your appetite will be more than sated with this appetizer-based lunch!

Ingredients

  • 12 slices streaky bacon
  • 12 chipolata sausages
  • 12 small sage leaves
  • 3 sprigs rosemary
  • olive oil, to taste
  • 3-6 tablespoons cranberry sauce
  • 3 large soft white rolls, halved
  • gravy, to taste, cooked

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –On a cutting board, lay 1 strip of the bacon.

Step 3 –Place a sausage and a sage leaf perpendicular at one end of the bacon strip.

Step 4 –Tightly roll the sausage and the sage leaf in the bacon and secure it with a toothpick.

Step 5 –Repeat with the remaining bacon, the remaining sausages, and the remaining sage leaves.

Step 6 –On a small baking tray, lay the rosemary sprigs.

Step 7 –Add the bacon-wrapped sausages to the tray.

Step 8 –Drizzle the olive oil over the bacon-wrapped sausages.

Step 9 –Bake the bacon-wrapped sausages, turning them once halfway through, until they are deeply golden and crispy, about 30 minutes.

Step 10 –When they are cool enough to handle, remove the toothpicks from the pigs in blankets.

Step 11 –Add a dollop of the cranberry sauce to each of the rolls.

Step 12 –Add the bacon-wrapped sausages to the rolls.

Step 13 –Serve the bacon-wrapped sausages with the gravy.
