Saturday Night Spaghetti Bake

Speaking of hunger, while you’re cozy in your cottage, you could also be chowing down on some Saturday Night Spaghetti Bake! See?! It was literally made for this exact moment! Think of it like Friday’s meaty and saucy lasagna, but just swap out those big, floppy noodles for some petite and bouncy spaghetti instead. It’s so good and the perfect way to spend your weekend. Just do it! Stay home and enjoy Saturday Night Spaghetti Bake in peace and quiet. You know you wanna!

Ingredients

  • 1 (16-ounce) package spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar pasta sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 5 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cups 4% cottage cheese
  • 4 cups part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • fresh basil, to taste, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 13×9-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the spaghetti.

Step 4 –While the spaghetti is cooking, in a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and the onion and cook, while crumbling the beef, until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is tender. Drain the excess grease.

Step 5 –Add the pasta sauce and the seasoned salt to the beef mixture and stir to combine.

Step 6 –Transfer the sauce mixture from the heat.

Step 7 –In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, the parmesan cheese, and the butter together.

Step 8 –Add the cooked spaghetti to the egg mixture and toss to coat.

Step 9 –Place 1/2 of the spaghetti mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 10 –Top the spaghetti mixture layer with 1/2 of the cottage cheese, 1/2 of the beef mixture, and 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers once.

Step 11 –Place the baking dish onto a rimmed baking sheet and cover it with foil.

Step 12 –Bake the spaghetti bake for 40 minutes.

Step 13 –Uncover the spaghetti bake and cook until it is heated through, about 20-25 minutes.

Step 14 –Allow the spaghetti bake to stand for 15 minutes.

Step 15 –Serve the spaghetti bake garnished with the basil.
