Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans sliced beets, drained
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Step 1 –In a saucepan on the stove-top over medium heat, combine the sugar, cornstarch, vinegar, and water.

Step 2 –Bring the mixture to a boil and let it cook for 5 minutes.

Step 3 –Lower the heat and add the beets and cook on low heat for 30 minutes.

Step 4 –After 30 minutes, add in the butter, salt, and pepper.

Step 5 –Remove from the heat and serve warm! You can also serve chilled if you prefer!
