Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white flour
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, cubed
  • 1 pound strawberries, halved
  • vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, optional, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and milk until the batter is smooth and no clumps of dry ingredients remain.

Step 3 –Place the cubes of butter in an 8×8-inch baking dish and bake until the butter has completely melted, for 3-5 minutes.

Step 4 –Pour the batter over the melted butter.

Step 5 –Evenly cover the batter with the strawberries and bake until the top is golden brown, about 45-50 minutes.

Step 6 –Serve immediately and with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
