Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 3 cups water or beef broth
- 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons dried Italian herb seasoning
- 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
- paprika, optional, to taste, plus more, to taste, for garnish
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- parsley, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 –In a Dutch oven or a large, heavy saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, while crumbling, until it is no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes.
Step 2 –Drain the grease from the pot.
Step 3 –Add the onion, the green bell pepper, and the garlic and cook until the onions are translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 4 –Add the water, the tomato sauce, the diced tomatoes and their juices, the Italian seasoning, the salt, and the paprika to the pot and mix well.
Step 5 –Reduce the heat to low.
Step 6 –Cover the pot and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melted together, about 20 minutes.
Step 7 –Add the macaroni and stir well to combine.
Step 8 –Cover the pot and let the mixture simmer until slightly thickened and the macaroni is tender, about 30 minutes.
Step 9 –Serve garnished with the paprika and the parsley.
