Ingredients
- 1 (15.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix, plus the ingredients called for on the package
- 3 cups tart apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup heavy cream
- whipped cream, optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 –Prepare the cake batter according to the package directions.
Step 4 –In a bowl, add the apples, the walnuts, the sugar, and the cinnamon and mix to combine.
Step 5 –Spoon the apple mixture over the batter.
Step 6 –Pour the heavy cream over the top of the batter. Do not stir.
Step 7 –Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour-1 hour 10 minutes.
Step 8 –Serve topped with the whipped cream.
