Breakfast Drop Biscuits

But, pssst, we have a little secret… these cheesy ham handhelds are great any time of the day! Like when you need to get on the road… Breakfast Drop Biscuits are there by the load. Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup cold butter, small cubes
  • 2/3 cup cheddar cheese, finely diced chunks
  • 2/3 cup ham, finely diced chunks
  • 1-1 1/4 cups milk

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line an 18×26-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, add the flour, the baking powder, the baking soda, the salt, the cayenne pepper, and the garlic powder and whisk well.

Step 4 –Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture, cutting them in with a fork until they are mixed in and pea-sized or slightly smaller. Do not over-cut the butter.

Step 5 –Add the cheddar cheese and the ham to the butter mixture and stir to evenly combine.

Step 6 –Gradually add the milk to the butter mixture, stirring after each addition, until the dough is sticky and can be dropped with a spoon. The dough should be a bit softer than cookie dough.

Step 7 –Evenly drop the dough in 12 heaping tablespoons on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8 –Bake the biscuits until they are lightly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center of one comes out clean, about 12-15 minutes.

Step 9 –Let the biscuits cool for 5 minutes.

Step 10 –Plate and serve.
