Crunchy Beef Casserole

What’s the sound of a satisfying meal? Chances are, it sounds just like biting into the Crunchy Beef Casserole! The “crunch” comes from the savory and salty crispy fried onion topping, baked to give it a truly percussive presence. But you can’t forget the beef: a whole pound of juicy ground beef mixed with tender rotini, sweet tomatoes, and melty sharp cheese. Crunchy Beef Casserole provides its own drumroll, but there’s no suspense here, just anticipation of how good the next bite will be!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rotini
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 (14-ounce) can of whole or diced tomatoes
  • 3/4 cup green pepper, optional
  • 1 can of crispy fried onions

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Grease a 2-quart casserole dish.

Step 3 –Cook the rotini according to the package directions.

Step 4 –Drain and rinse the pasta.

Step 5 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the beef, for about 5-7 minutes.

Step 6 –Drain the fat from the beef.

Step 7 –Combine the cooked rotini, beef, cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese, seasoned salt, tomatoes, and green pepper.

Step 8 –Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Step 9 –Cover the casserole and bake for 30 minutes.

Step 10 –Uncover and top with the crispy fried onions.

Step 11 –Bake until the onions have lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

Step 12 –Serve.
