Decadent Oreo® Truffles

Decadent Oreo® Truffles… mmm, mmm, mmm. Even the name can make your mouth start to water. “Milk’s favorite cookie” gets a bit of an upgrade and wowza. It’s the richest, sweetest, creamiest thing you’ll ever sink your teeth into. Coated in a hardened but smooth layer of chocolate, inside you’ll find soft, creamy tastes of chocolate cookie crumbles mixed with creamy cheese. So simple, but oh, so heavenly. You’ll still probably need a glass of milk to wash these guys down because they really stay true to their name. Decadent Oreo Truffles… what a treat they are!

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.3-ounce) package single-stuffed Oreos
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, very soft
  • 22 ounces chocolate or white chocolate candy melts, divided
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

Directions

Step 1 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2 –In a food processor, pulse the Oreos into small crumbs.

Step 3 –Transfer 2 tablespoons of the crumbs from the food processor and reserve them for topping.

Step 4 –Add the cream cheese to the crumbs in the food processor and pulse until they are well combined into a sticky dough.

Step 5 –Use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop out the mixture and roll it into balls, then place the balls on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all the dough has been used.

Step 6 –Freeze the balls for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight.

Step 7 –Line another baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 8 –Melt 16 ounces of the candy melts until they are smooth, according to the package directions.

Step 9 –Transfer a few of the balls from the freezer at a time.

Step 10 –Dip the bottom of each of the balls into the chocolate and then balance them on a butter knife and use a spoon to pour some of the chocolate over the tops of them until they are completely coated.

Step 11 –Let the excess chocolate run off, then use a toothpick to gently slide the truffle onto the new parchment paper.

Step 12 –Repeat with the remaining balls.

Step 13 –Let the truffles rest until they have set, about 10 minutes.

Step 14 –Melt the remaining candy melts until they are smooth, according to the package directions.

Step 15 –Dip a fork into the melted chocolate and drizzle it over the truffles and sprinkle with the reserved cookie crumbs.

Step 16 –Place the truffles in the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight.

Step 17 –Serve.
