Donut Bread Pudding

Welcome to our (pretend) donut shop! If you like donuts, then you’re in the right spot. Grab a piping hot cup of coffee and get ready to start your day with this sweet, moist, donut-like treat. It will blow your mind and have you falling in love with that sugary, glazed pastry even more than before! Life is too short to be eating bland greens all the time. Grab a bite of this Donut Bread Pudding and treat yourself!

Ingredients

  • 1 dozen glazed donuts, store-bought, such as Krispy KremeĀ®
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter or chocolate hazelnut spread, such as NutellaĀ®
  • hazelnuts, to taste, for garnish
  • mint leaves, to taste, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Step 3 –Cut each of the donuts into 8 pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish.

Step 4 –In a large bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the heavy cream, the brown sugar, the salt, the vanilla, and the cinnamon and whisk well to combine.

Step 5 –Pour the egg mixture over the donut pieces and gently press the donuts into the liquid.

Step 6 –Let the donut mixture stand to let the donut pieces absorb some of the liquid, about 10 minutes.

Step 7 –Bake the bread pudding until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, about 40-45 minutes.

Step 8 –Let the bread pudding stand for 5 minutes.

Step 9 –In a microwave-safe bowl, add the peanut butter and heat in the microwave for 15 seconds. Stir.

Step 10 –Return the bowl to the microwave and heat the peanut butter in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until it is runny, about 45 seconds total.

Step 11 –Drizzle the melted peanut butter over the bread pudding.

Step 12 –Serve the bread pudding warm, garnished with the hazelnuts and the mint leaves.
