Gooey Butter Cookies

When are cookies at their best? When they’re warm, gooey, and fresh from the oven, correct! What if you could capture that feeling at any time? That’s the beauty of Gooey Butter Cookies! The center of each cookie is rich and ooey-gooey, with a hint of tang, and the exterior is tender, golden, and sweet. Gooey Butter Cookies are sugar cookies taken to the next level, and you won’t want anything else after trying them!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3 –In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and the cream cheese until creamy.

Step 4 –Add the egg and the vanilla to the cream cheese mixture and mix to combine.

Step 5 –Beat the cake mix into the cream cheese mixture until just combined.

Step 6 –Chill the dough for 15-20 minutes.

Step 7 –Using a medium cookie scoop or a spoon, scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8 –Place the powdered sugar in a shallow bowl.

Step 9 –Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each of the balls in the powdered sugar until they are evenly coated.

Step 10 –Place the cookie dough balls on the baking sheet and bake until the cookies are set but not browned, about 10 minutes.

Step 11 –Allow the cookies to cool completely.
