Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) package bulk pork sausage
- 1/2 (8-ounce) package Neufchâtel cheese, softened
- 1 (8-ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- salt, optional, to taste
- pepper, optional, to taste
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Step 2 –Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 3 –Drain the skillet of excess fat.
Step 4 –Add the Neufchâtel cheese to the sausage and cook, while stirring, until combined.
Step 5 –Transfer the skillet from the heat.
Step 6 –Unroll the crescent rolls and place 1/2 of the dough into the bottom of an 8×8-inch glass baking dish, making sure to press the seams together.
Step 7 –Top the crescent roll crust with the sausage mixture.
Step 8 –Sprinkle the sausage mixture with the cheddar cheese.
Step 9 –Top the sausage layer with the remaining crescent roll dough, pinching the seams closed.
Step 10 –Bake until golden-brown, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 11 –Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
