Ham & Cheese Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups ham, diced
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 pound cheddar cheese, diced
  • paprika, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Layer half the potatoes, half the ham, and half the onion in a 2-quart baking dish.

Step 3 –Repeat the layers.

Step 4 –Heat the milk, peas, flour, butter, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 7-10 minutes.

Step 5 –Stir the cheddar cheese into the sauce until the cheese is melted.

Step 6 –Pour the sauce over the potato and ham layers.

Step 7 –Sprinkle the potatoes with the paprika.

Step 8 –Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.

Step 9 –Bake until the potatoes are tender, about 1 hour.

Step 10 –Remove the foil and continue baking until lightly browned, about 15 minutes more.

Step 11 –Serve hot.
