Because it’s so simple, ready in under an hour, and oh, so delicious. It’s everything you know and love about the Italian classic—soft noodles, creamy cheeses, and rich, meaty marinara sauce. Ingredients

  • 1/2 box lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage or ground beef, cooked and drained
  • 2 jars marinara sauce
  • 1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 4 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided
  • 1/2 cup Parmigiano-Reggiano, grated
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 –Cook the lasagna noodles to al dente according to the package directions.

Step 3 –Drain the water from the pot and run the noodles with cold water to prevent them from further cooking.

Step 4 –In a large saucepan, mix the cooked sausage and 1 1/2 jars of the marinara sauce and simmer over medium heat, about 5 minutes.

Step 5 –In a large bowl, mix the ricotta, 3 1/2 cups of the mozzarella, the Parmigiano-Reggiano, and the eggs.

Step 6 –Spread about 3/4 cup of the remaining marinara sauce over a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 7 –Layer 3-5 of the cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce. The noodles should overlap slightly.

Step 8 –Layer the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by the meat sauce.

Step 9 –Repeat the layers twice, starting from the noodles and ending with the meat sauce.

Step 10 –Top the meat sauce with the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Step 11 –Bake, covered with foil, about 30 minutes.

Step 12 –Carefully transfer the lasagna from the oven and discard the foil.

Step 13 –Continue baking until the cheese is melted and golden brown, about 10 minutes.

Step 14 –Let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes.

Step 15 –Slice and serve.
