Exact Answer: 1 year

How Long Would Dak Prescott Be Out?

Dark Prescott would be out for1 year (expected)
Ankle dislocation recovery time 6 to 8 weeks (In general)

It hasn’t been the most favorable training camp for Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. He’s back on the field after the dreadful ankle fracture he endured last season, but he’s been dealing with a new ailment: a shoulder strain.

He has handled that for most of the training camp, primarily keeping him out of action.  Officially, Prescott has a “latissimus strain” that affects his shoulder. He asserts that it will not affect his Cowboys season.

An MRI examined that he only has a moderate shoulder strain. While the Cowboys repeatedly tell the media that it’s no big deal and we shouldn’t investigate anything into the numerous MRIs and the ever-extending timeline for Prescott’s recovery to normalcy.

Though a remark from Adam Schefter has spiked some concern about Prescott’s return, McCarthy also clarified that they were determined to maintain that strategy by regulating his throwing burden. At the same time, he recuperates to avoid further harming it. He inferred to it as a “plan of caution.”

According to the Cowboys, they don’t think that will be the case. He’s reportedly prepared to get into games right now.

Prescott is also more than confident about his health state at the beginning of the season and throughout.

Why Would Dak Prescott Be Out For So Long?

On Oct 11, 2020- ESPN reported that Prescott was being sent to a local hospital in the Dallas area for additional examination. The CBS broadcast said that it was officially a right ankle injury. Furthermore, Schefter reported that Prescott would have surgery on his right ankle the same night.

The Cowboys confirmed later that day that Prescott’s injury is a compound right ankle fracture and dislocation. Prescott’s injury looked most visually the same as Hayward’s Oct. 2017 injury while playing for the Boston Celtics.

That Hayward injury was ultimately diagnosed as a dislocated ankle and fractured tibia. Hayward nurtured that injury while landing awkwardly on his left leg, rather than Prescott’s leg being tucked underneath him during a saddle.

On July 28, 2021- Prescott is reportedly suffering from latissimus strain i.e. A shoulder injury. Later, A MRI examined that he had a mild shoulder strain. Again, a second MRI on his shoulder was conducted, which showed significant progress.

The quarterback’s shoulder strain is “rehabilitating well.” However, there are reports that also cast doubt on the quarterback’s capacity to return to form by Week 1 and beyond.

It’s unclear whether Prescott will suit up, though the Cowboys originally planned to let their franchise quarterback get preseason proxies as part of his recovery from 2020’s ankle injury. On Sept. 9, he will have gone 334 days since the last time he suited up and played on an NFL field, when he has carried off the field with his ankle injury.

Dak Prescott was back on the field, reflecting a crucial walk in his road to return from his gruesome ankle injury that ended his 2020 quarterback.

It’s expected that he’ll be prepared to go for training camp, but they will not put him in havoc. It’s expected for him to be out there standing on the field and inferring there’s an on-field job.

A slow and smooth pace for his comeback is a wise strategy for the Cowboys, those who don’t stand to progress very much from hurrying Prescott’s come back in time for spring training. Dallas approved Prescott to a lucrative extension this offseason because it acknowledges he’s the team’s franchise quarterback.

There’s a lot of positivity around Dak Prescott about his comeback and recovery straight here, with everyone expecting him back to 100% and frankly, in his mind, 110% and 120% because he’ll come back with a better version than he was before.
