Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 6 ounces broccoli, chopped into small florets
- 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
- 8 ounces ham steak, chopped into bite-sized pieces
Directions
Step 1 -In a 2 1/2-3-quart saucepan over high heat, add the chicken broth and the rice and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Step 2 -Reduce heat to low and cover the saucepan.
Step 3 -Allow the rice to simmer for 6 minutes.
Step 4 -Add the broccoli to the saucepan and cover the pan.
Step 5 -Increase the heat to maintain a gentle simmer and cook until the rice and the broccoli are cooked through, about 9-10 minutes
Step 6 -Transfer the saucepan from the heat.
Step 7 -Sprinkle in the cheese and stir until completely melted.
Step 8 -Add the ham and stir until warmed through.
Step 9 -Plate and serve.
