Ronald Reagan’s Favorite Mac and Cheese

There’s a lot to know and love about America’s 40th president. He was born in Illinois, became a Hollywood superstar, and married one of the most beloved First Ladies in our country’s history, just to name a few. Did you know his favorite food was macaroni and cheese? You can’t get much more American than that! To honor him, we created Ronald Reagan’s Favorite Mac and Cheese! The bouncy macaroni noodles are covered in a creamy, cheesy sauce, as classic as the legend himself. So, if you’re feeling a little patriotic and want to celebrate, Ronald Reagan’s Favorite Mac and Cheese is a tasty way to do it!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound macaroni
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup milk

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 –Boil the macaroni until tender and drain thoroughly.

Step 4 –Stir the butter and the egg into the cooked macaroni.

Step 5 –Mix the dry mustard and the salt with 1 tablespoon of hot water, then mix with the milk. Set aside.

Step 6 –Add the cheese into the macaroni mixture, leaving enough to sprinkle on top later.

Step 7 –Pour the macaroni mixture into the prepared dish and top with the milk mixture, then sprinkle with the leftover cheese.

Step 8 –Bake until golden brown, about 45 minutes.

Step 9 –Serve.
