Sandra Bullock’s Beef Casserole

Well, this dish certainly blindsides your taste buds! It’s true, Sandra Bullock’s Beef Casserole is so hearty and filling, it has its own gravity! Juicy, savory ground beef is always a great proposal for protein, but buttery egg noodles, creamy and tangy sour cream, and melty cheddar cheese really bring the heat! Seriously, you wouldn’t want to miss Sandra Bullock’s Beef Casserole while you were sleeping! Speed to your table and wake up your taste buds with every bite! (For the record, we really did try to work a Miss Congeniality pun in here, but we simply lacked the practical magic…!)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (8-ounce) package egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • parsley, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 –In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook, while crumbling, until no pink remains, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 2 –Drain and discard the grease.

Step 3 –Add the tomato sauce, the sugar, the garlic salt, and the salt to the ground beef and simmer until the flavors meld together, about 20 minutes.

Step 4 –Transfer the skillet from the heat and cover.

Step 5 –Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature.

Step 6 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 7 –Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.

Step 8 –In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the egg noodles to al dente, according to the package directions.

Step 9 –Drain the pasta.

Step 10 –In a bowl, add the sour cream, the cream cheese, and the onion and mix to combine.

Step 11 –Layer 1/2 of the egg noodles in the prepared dish.

Step 12 –Next, layer 1/2 of the sour cream mixture and then 1/2 of the beef sauce mixture.

Step 13 –Repeat the layers starting with the egg noodles and ending with the beef sauce.

Step 14 –Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top of the casserole.

Step 15 –Bake until the cheese is melted and golden-brown, about 25-30 minutes.

Step 16 –Serve garnished with the parsley.
