Special Morning Bake

Good morning! Today is not like any other day! Today is a great day! It’s a special day, which calls for a special breakfast! This Special Morning Bake certainly tastes amazing and is ready to greet the best of days, with layers of melty cheese, fluffy and creamy eggs, savory sausage, and tender white bread. There’s tang and richness and just a hint of spice, basically all of the good stuff! The Special Morning Bake makes any day a special one!

Ingredients

  • 1 (1-pound) package ground pork sausage
  • 6 white bread slices, torn into pieces
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Step 1 –Grease a 7×11-inch baking dish.

Step 2 –In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, while stirring often, until it crumbles and is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.

Step 3 –Drain the fat from the skillet.

Step 4 –Arrange the bread pieces in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.

Step 5 –Top the bread layer with the cooked sausage, the Swiss cheese, and the cheddar cheese.

Step 6 –Combine the milk, the Dijon mustard, the eggs, the Worcestershire sauce, the salt, and the pepper.

Step 7 –Pour the milk mixture over the layers in the baking dish.

Step 8 –Cover the baking dish and chill for at least 8 hours and up to 24 hours.

Step 9 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 10 –Bake until the casserole is set, about 40 minutes.
