Ingredients
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup sour cream
- 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 –Grease an 11×7-inch baking dish.
Step 3 –In a 6-quart stockpot, cook the macaroni to al dente according to the package directions.
Step 4 –Drain the water and return the macaroni to the pot.
Step 5 –While the pasta is cooking, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook the beef until no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
Step 6 –Stir the tomatoes, the tomato sauce, the sugar, the salt, the garlic salt, and the pepper into the cooked beef.
Step 7 –Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Step 8 –Stir the sour cream, the cream cheese, and the green onions into the pasta.
Step 9 –Spoon the pasta mixture over the beef mixture, spreading evenly.
Step 10 –Sprinkle the casserole with the cheese.
Step 11 –Bake, covered, until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 15-20 minutes.
Step 12 –Let the casserole stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Step 13 –Serve.
