Tailgate Brats

No ordinary hot dogs can compare to Tailgate Brats. How could they? Bratwursts are smooth, with plenty of distinct aromatic flavors packed into the pork sausages! Tailgate Brats go for the touchdown by braising the sausages in malty beer before getting the kiss of the grill. Served on buns with your favorite toppings, Tailgate Brats are ready to cheer with you while the game is on!

Ingredients

For the brats:

  • olive oil, to taste, for oiling the grill grates
  • 10 bratwursts
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 (12-ounce) cans beer

For serving:

  • 10 brat buns, split
  • ketchup, to taste
  • mustard, to taste
  • sauerkraut, to taste

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2 –Clean the grill grates, then use the olive oil to lightly oil the grates.

Step 3 –In a large pot over medium-high heat, add the brats, the onion, and the beer.

Step 4 –Bring the brat mixture to a boil and reduce the heat to low.

Step 5 –Simmer the brats until they are cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.

Step 6 –Transfer the brats to a bowl or a platter and continue to simmer the onions in the beer.

Step 7 –Place the brats on the grill and sear, while turning frequently, until browned, about 5 minutes.

Step 8 –Serve the brats in the buns with the ketchup, the mustard, the sauerkraut, and the beer-braised onions.
