  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 (12-ounce) bag chocolate chips, semisweet
  • 3/4 cup pecans, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 3/4 cup bite-size soft caramels
  • milk, optional, to taste, for serving


Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 -In a medium-sized bowl stir together the flour, the baking soda, and the salt. Set it aside.

Step 3 -In a large mixing bowl beat the butter, the sugar, and the brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy and lightened in color.

Step 4 -Add the eggs and the vanilla to the butter mixture, adding the eggs 1 at a time and mixing between each addition.

Step 5 -Mix on low speed until everything is incorporated.

Step 6 -Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, blending slowly and being careful not to overmix.

Step 7 -Fold in the chocolate chips, the pecans, and the caramels.

Step 8 -Using a tablespoon, drop the batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between the drops of dough so the cookies have room to grow.
