Ingredients
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 3 tablespoons whiskey, can substitute with 3 additional tablespoons orange juice
- 4 (4-5-ounce) salmon fillets, skinless
- salt, to taste
- ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup pecans or walnuts, coarsely chopped
Directions
Step 1 –Adjust an oven rack 3-4 inches from the heat source.
Step 2 –Preheat the broiler.
Step 3 –Lightly grease a broiler pan.
Step 4 –In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the maple syrup, the orange juice, and the whiskey and cook, uncovered, until it starts to thicken, but is not syrupy in consistency, about 5 minutes.
Step 5 –Lightly season each of the fillets with the salt and the pepper.
Step 6 –Add the fillets to the prepared broiler pan and broil for 5 minutes.
Step 7 –Brush about 2 tablespoons of the glaze mixture all over the fillets.
Step 8 –Flip the fillets and broil until the salmon flakes easily when tested with a fork, about 5 minutes.
Step 9 –Stir the pecans into the remaining glaze mixture on the stovetop.
Step 10 –Heat the glaze mixture over high heat until it becomes syrupy, about 5 minutes.
Step 11 –Serve the salmon fillets topped with the pecan glaze.
