Blackberries add a sweetness to tart lemonade in this Blackberry Lemonade. The blackberries are cooked down with water and sugar until they form a syrup-like consistency. Then it’s strained and mixed in with homemade lemonade. You’ll never go back to powdered mixes after trying Blackberry Lemonade!
Ingredients
- 4 cups water, divided
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest, grated
- 1 cup blackberries
Directions
Step 1 –Bring 2 cups of the water and the sugar to a boil in a large saucepan on the stovetop.
Step 2 –Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, then remove from heat.
Step 3 –Stir in the lemon juice, the zest, and the remaining water. Cool slightly.
Step 4 –Combine 1 cup of the lemon mixture and the blackberries.
Step 5 –Cover and process until blended.
Step 6 –Strain and then discard seeds. Pour the blackberry mixture and the lemon mixture into a pitcher. Stir well.
Step 7 –Refrigerate until chilled.
Step 8 –Serve in chilled glasses over ice!
