Bacon can elevate almost any food. Just wrap it in bacon and presto! It becomes tastier than you thought possible! Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus proves this rule and then some: the saltiness and savoriness of the bacon creates a lovely contrast with the crisp, garden flavor of the asparagus. Herbaceous and meaty, Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus is perfect for backyard barbecues, where it can occupy the same plate as grilled chicken or burgers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound asparagus
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 6 slices bacon
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • additional herbs, optional, of your choice, as desired

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the grill to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Trim the ends of the asparagus so they are 5-6 inches long.

Step 3 –Place the asparagus in a mixing bowl and toss with olive oil to coat.

Step 4 –Season with salt and pepper.

Step 5 –Wrap 5-6 asparagus spears with 1 slice of bacon, securing the bacon with a toothpick if needed.

Step 6 –Repeat with the other spears and bacon slices.

Step 7 –Grill the bacon-wrapped asparagus for 10 minutes.

Step 8 –Flip and continue grilling until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is cooked through, about 10 minutes.

Step 9 –For oven cooking: preheat the oven to 400 degrees and roast the bacon-wrapped asparagus for 25-30 minutes.

Step 10 –Serve hot!
