Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, scoop and level to measure
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold, diced into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Directions

Step 1 –Set the oven to 425 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to avoid sticking.

Step 3 –In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of your stand mixer, combine all the dry ingredients.

Step 4 –Cut the butter into the mixture using a pastry tool or a fork. At this point, you should have a meal-like texture.

Step 5 –Toss the cheese and chives into the mixture.

Step 6 –Add the buttermilk, continuing to toss until you have a dough. If the mixture seems too dry, you can add additional buttermilk.

Step 7 –Using a large spoon or a 1/4 cup measuring spoon, place a heaping scoop of dough onto your baking sheet. Repeat until you have 12 biscuits.

Step 8 –Bake 13-15 minutes.

Step 9 –Serve and enjoy!
