Dessert Nachos

Ingredients

For the berry salsa:

  • 9 ounces strawberries, hulled and coarsely chopped
  • 4 1/2 ounces raspberries
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar

For the nachos:

  • 4 soft tortillas
  • 1 1/2 ounces butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
  • 3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • ice cream, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 –Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 –Line two large baking trays with parchment paper.

Step 3 –Combine the strawberries, the raspberries, and the caster sugar in a small bowl and let them sit together so the flavors develop, about 15-20 minutes.

Step 4 –Brush the tortillas with the melted butter.

Step 5 –Place the tortillas on the prepared trays.

Step 6 –Bake until the tortillas are golden and puffed, about 10 minutes.

Step 7 –Sprinkle the tortillas with the cinnamon sugar.

Step 8 –Let the tortillas cool and crisp-up for 5 minutes.

Step 9 –Combine the chocolate, the cream, the brown sugar, the golden syrup, and the sea salt in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on medium, stirring halfway, until it is smooth and combined, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 10 –Stir the chocolate sauce until it is smooth and then allow it to cool slightly.

Step 11 –Break the sugar tortillas into chip-size pieces.

Step 12 –Place the berry salsa in a serving bowl and arrange the tortilla crisps around the bowl.

Step 13 –Top the tortillas with the ice cream and drizzle with the chocolate sauce.

Step 14 –Serve.
