The mouth-tingling sauce then is poured over some juicy tomatoes, sweet onions, and crispy cucumbers–now, it’s time for the ice! Ingredients

  • 5 large tomatoes, wedged
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3/4 cup white vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 teaspoons mustard seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 large cucumber, sliced

Directions

Step 1 –In a large heatproof, nonreactive bowl, place the tomatoes and onions.

Step 2 –In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, sugar, salt, water, mustard seed, and cayenne.

Step 3 –Bring the vinegar mixture to a boil.

Step 4 –Cook the vinegar mixture for 1 minute, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Step 5 –Carefully pour the sauce over the tomatoes and onions.

Step 6 –Allow the vegetables to cool completely.

Step 7 –Stir the cucumbers into the vegetables.

Step 8 –Cover and place in the fridge to chill overnight.

Step 9 –Serve.
