Ingredients

  • 12 tablespoons sugar, divided
  • red gel food coloring
  • orange gel food coloring
  • yellow gel food coloring
  • green gel food coloring
  • blue gel food coloring
  • purple gel food coloring
  • 6 teaspoons coconut oil, divided
  • 12 tablespoons plus 12 kernels white popcorn kernels, divided
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided

Directions

Step 1 –Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

Step 2 –Divide the sugar evenly between 6 small bowls, 2 tablespoons per bowl.

Step 3 –To each separate bowl, add 1-2 drops of one of the food colorings: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Stir each bowl with a clean fork to ensure you don’t mix the dyes.

Step 4 –Place a non-stick pan on the stovetop over medium heat.

Step 5 –Add 1 teaspoon of the coconut oil and 3 of the popcorn kernels and cover the pan.

Step 6 –Once the kernels pop, reduce the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of the popcorn kernels.

Step 7 –Add 1 of the bowls of the colored sugar, cover the pan again, and shake to combine. Shake vigorously to ensure the sugar does not burn.

Step 8 –Once the pops are more than 3 seconds apart, remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 9 –Pour the popcorn onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 10 –Evenly sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of the salt over the hot kettle corn.

Step 11 –Let the kettle corn cool completely and transfer it to a serving bowl.

Step 12 –Repeat this process with the remaining coconut oil, popcorn kernels, colored sugar, and salt.

Step 13 –Mix the popcorn and serve!
